The Journey

Ronnie started his career in upholstery by completing his 4 year apprenticeship with the respected furniture store Anderson & England in Elgin, Scotland. After a few loyal year he moved into a workshop of his own and RDU Ltd was born! The business flourished and grew to become one of the most well respected upholstery businesses in the North East of Scotland. Much to the distress of his loyal customer base, Ronnie decided it was time for a move.

After more than twenty years in Scotland, RDU Ltd was looking for pastures new and where better to set up a new business than leafy green New Zealand! With the confidence of a highly successful business under his belt along with some well-honed skills, an eye for detail and a passion for a very high quality job, Ronnie set up a successful upholstery business in Queenstown, NZ. The Queenstown branch is thriving with sometimes more than two employees to cope with demand – which is still sometimes not enough..!

RDU Ltd has transformed hotels, bars and restaurants in Queenstown, supporting hotel renovations and sprucing up favourites haunts and tourist attractions in Queenstown such as The Rees Hotel, The TSS Earnslaw, Walter Peak, Matakauri Lodge, Blanket Bay, Pog Mahones to name but a few. The list of projects of various shapes and sizes is long and distinguished and the business continues to support local organisations, as well as domestic clients with their experience, skill and attention to detail which is second to none.

RDU Expands North

You may find yourself wondering, ‘’with ten successful years in Queenstown and the business there still booming – why would anyone want to leave, why move to Christchurch?’’ and a legitimate question it is. Well the truth is, we’re not leaving, we’re merely expanding. Seven or so years after the tragic Christchurch earthquakes, as the city begins to bloom again, the rebuild is at a stage where interior decoration and furnishings are centre stage – RDU Ltd’s forte! The timing is right to expand the business to a place where RDU [CHC] Ltd can support the rebuild and offer extremely high quality upholstery services to even more commercial and domestic projects and clientele. Cantabrians know how special Christchurch is and it’s in their nature to want to share it – as a result, increasing tourism and visitors to the Garden City is high on the list of priorities for Christchurch. To support this strategy, there need to be high quality, experienced and reliable tradespeople to support the regeneration of the city, such as RDU [CHC] Ltd. If the interior of your home or business premises could use a facelift and some TLC give RDU [CHC] Ltd a call on 021 069 1011 or e-mail Ronnie on [email protected] for a consultation and quote today – you won’t regret it!
